Today's Route (planned)

Today's Route (actual)

The beautiful Provincial Motel.  We thought that we'd be without accommodations for the night, and that it would be tent city for us, but Waldo came through for us with a bit of luck and perseverance.  He also had to convince Cheryl that we weren't like all those other bikers.  Due to a fire at a local factory, Fort Nelson was all booked up with workers rebuilding the plant.  The Oil Sheik discovered that if you leave your door open for fresh air, it's code for "I'd like a full service room, please".

More new friends. Jeff was really glad to meet Ed and Mary Ellen (traveling to Alaska from Ohio). After riding six days with five guys on Harleys, he said he needed some Honda mojo.

Ride safe. Maybe we'll cross paths again.

We rode out of town in the rain, and our first gas stop wasn't very fruitful.  The rain stayed with us most of the day, but we were able to find gas when we needed it.

The rain was getting the best of us, so we had to stop and dry out a little bit at an abandoned camp and cafe.

We met Nils and Craig, two surveyors for an oil company, who were full of information.  Interesting stuff.....very seismic.

The Milkman cleans up from the morning ride.....that towel was clean before it touched his face.   Now you know why we make him ride at the end of the formation.

The backside of an old mountain goat, and some animal in the distance.

Gorgeous sample of what we experience after every turn in the road.

Our first entrance into Yukon Territory.  Dave and Susan were there to greet us.  They run the Iron Creek Lodge, right on the border.  They said it was an awesome place, but we didn't really have time to stop.

Another animal sighting....so we asked our resident expert what it was.  Dave said:  "I'm not sure, but I know that it's not a moose.  Looks like maybe a beaver?"  (The locals call them "Swamp Donkeys")

Airwick and Windbreaker smile at the sunshine.  There can't be any more rain left in those skies, right?

Various wildlife photos....

The locals told us that polar bears are easy to spot because they are all white. Therefore, Dave declares, this must be a polar bear posing with a black bear and grizzly bear.

We knew we were getting close to the area where the bears are when we saw this. Does this dispel the myth?

I thought buffalo were supposed to roam.

Careful Milkman, safety first....keep that helmet on.  You don't have to be a fast runner in wild animal country, just faster than your buddy.

Hmmmmmm........The Milkman ran away. He didn't look scared, but we found this where he was standing.

Look closely and you'll see the whole family heading out on a hike up the mountain.

A new home under construction.

Well look at that.... Waldo has a new career.  Man that boy is talented!

Looks like the makings of a new home improvement show.  Look out Bob Villa.  Bob, does pushing the chainsaw back and forth instead of starting it up save on gas?

K&G had a few too many "road pops"?  Is this how you call our waitress?

An army travels on its stomach.  Great Swiss cuisine.

Anita, our waitress from Switzerland, just happened to get off her shift at the same time that we finished up lunch.   Time for a photo op and a quick ride on the bike.  Hope that your friends and family back in Alpnach get a kick out of this.

Wow!  The two Dave's always find any airplane within the local vicinity.

Once again Photo Op tries out alternative means of transportation.

On the road again. Over hill, over dale, as we hit the dusty trail.

Another construction delay.  Bob says, "If you need help, I've got some experience in this field, young lady."

Rob shares some Navy stories with us...

The Racine (not so) Rough Riders in action.

Lake Muncho was awesome...

We are now north of the 60th parallel. It seems like no one ever shuts the lights off at night.

Our day got cut short, because one of us misbehaved.  Waldo puts on a happy face after a confrontation with the local RCMP....(that's the Royal Canadian Mounted Police...Mounties)

Constable Angela Spicer was ready to protect our bikes. Thanks Angela!!!  Photo Op asked her if she had heard of Sgt. Preston, she asked if he was stationed at this post. (kids)

This was unbelievable...the largest collection of stolen goods in the world...60,000 street signs. We added a few....

A couple familiar signs from the Blackhawk Business Park in Franksville, (look closely).

Waldo sends a message home...Happy Birthday Stephanie from all of us.

The Racine (not so) Rough Riders leave their mark on the place.

Drinks and dinner.  Man it's good to be out of that rain!

Nice way to end the day!

Our efforts at night to keep our public informed.
